Hey,
This makes it official–we’re starting our journey of 1001 Lives today. A journey of a thousand miles that begins with this post as its first step.
Though it may seem weird to an audience that I’m writing a blog post–and not just any, our first blog post–so casually, it closely represents what Ben, my co-founder, and I want out of this club. A place where we can earnestly tell the life stories of adults and what they think of life to high schoolers. This journey will also be a new experience for all the officers in this club, too, as we ourselves also don’t have the exact answers to what life may mean.
The reason for doing so all heads back to the current state of student life in the US. Much too often, high schoolers are bogged down by homework and never take the time out of their lives to think about what provides meaning for people, what truly makes a person happy, or what it means to live a fulfilling life. Much too often, high schoolers don’t put enough thought into anything that’s not related to their academic career and look back with regret, wishing they’ve done things differently.
Through conducting interviews with people who’ve lived through vastly different experiences and have walked divergent paths, we hope to spread the wisdom they’ve gained in their years. Our goal is to help you realize the importance and consequences of the various non-academic choices life has to give. Perhaps you won’t agree with everyone’s opinions we interview. That’s fine. As long as you’re able to take this and reflect, as long as this can guide you in choosing the path for your life and understanding what it entails, we’ll have succeeded.
We hope you’re willing to walk alongside us on this journey.
